SUMMER TO FALL TRANSITIONAL PEICES
Happy Monday! We’re heading back home from a trip to Dallas today. We took some time to actually take a vacation first bc life is just a lot lately. One day I’ll share that journey, but for now, let’s keep it light. Let’s talk about a subject that makes me ever-so-happy: transitional fashion. I just love to create outfits that are flexible and I love seeing the kinds of flexible looks others create. Today, I’m sharing some of the core pieces I like to keep in my closet to help transition to fall. I’m linking a few things, but I’m guessing these are things already in your closet! I’m just passing along a few tips for styling them transitionally!

A GOOD DENIM JACKET
I spent years looking for the right denim jacket and I finally found the perfect style for me. I just happened upon it at a boutique a friend of mine owns and it’s the best. Like a good pair of denim, a denim jacket has to be cut just right to fit with the majority of your closet. Sure, there’s tons of cuts and styles to try out and if you’re an aficionado, you might have a few. But there’s always one that you know is the one you take to a deserted island.
WHITE DENIM
This should come as no surprise, considering I wrote a post about white denim in fall last year. White denim is perfect for transitioning to fall because it definitely feels suited to summer, it offers more warmth, and it just looks gorgeous against fall colors. Personally, I love white denim year-round, and especially during colder months, because it offers a unique contrast against the dark colors of cool months.
FALL HUES IN SUMMER CUTS
Typically the start of fall fashion is as hot or hotter than the rest of summer. I think that might be what strikes the debate about if it’s too early to start fall because we’re all quite literally suffocating in our cozy cute fall sweaters with our piping hot PSLs. The solution is just to opt for fall colors in your summery cuts. This particular green is more summery than autumnal, but you won’t stop me from wearing green year-round so let’s move on. Warm browns and jewelry in heavier textures give off that fall, chunky, cozy vibe but don’t do the same to your body. I could switch this green to a more olive tone in a similar cut and the vibe would be perfect for sitting right smack in the middle of fall. As I’m considering this outfit transitional, though, I like to mix in to create a less seasonally defined, but still seasonally appropriate look.
