HOW TO WEAR WHITE DENIM IN FALL
Happy Wednesday! I meant to get this post up last night, but I had a couple of appointments that left me completely exhausted and I passed out on the couch at 5:30. I ended up not sleeping so well since I napped for four hours prior to bed time so I’m exhausted again today! Whoop. I had a bit of a feeling on Monday that my to-do list this week would get the better of me, and it looks like it’s the case, but it happens sometimes. ANYWAY, before my appointments, I shot these photos at home since we hadn’t had a chance to go out and get them. I love the look of white denim in fall, but I’ve also seen it look very summery and out of place – so I thought I’d share a few tips and tricks for styling white denim in a more autumnal fashion.

STICK TO AN AUTUMNAL COLOR PALETTE
It’s easy for white denim to look springy or summery. A light color palette just naturally does that. So, to keep the look looking seasonally appropriate, try to stick to a deeper, darker palette. I think black and white looks pretty seasonally neutral, but white denim and jewel tones almost always scream fall. Of course, you can always opt for a class camel or cognac color like I did in this look for an instant fall vibe.
BOOTS & BOOTIES WILL “COOL DOWN” THE LOOK
Footwear can make or break just about any outfit. With white denim, it can make a big difference toward the seasonality of your look. Boots of all kinds are cool weather essentials, so wearing them with your white skinnies is a great way to give a fall vibe to your outfit. Bonus points if the boots are in an autumnal shade.
In early spring, ankle boots are just as common as any other shoe since it is often still quite cool out. Those fall colors will keep the look rooted in the season, instead of too springy. But don’t over think this too much, you can still use the other tips in this post to keep your look looking autumnal if the only boots you have are a lighter or more pastel shade.
AUTUMNAL TEXTURES ARE THE PERFECT TOUCH
The first bag I styled for this look was a huge sherpa bag, which is a perfectly fall/winter texture. But I also wanted to style it with a smaller bag, just to show the possibilities. You don’t need to go out and buy all new bags to get the look – unless you want to! Other autumnal textures include heavier-to-chunky knits, dark animal prints, heavy leathers and suedes, wools, and stiff brocade-like fabrics. Including any of these textures in any part of your outfit will instantly add that autumnal touch.
I often use this Michael Kors bag throughout the year, so it doesn’t necessarily scream fall, but paired with a cozy oversized sweater and some very fall snakeskin boots, I’m still able to capture an autumnal style without a ton of effort.
