WE MOVED! (MY NEW OFFICE, MINUS A FEW THINGS)
Alright, y’all. I mean, Happy Wednesday, ladies! It’s been a-WHILE. And what’s crazy is that it’s not like not enough time to prepare, it’s literally not enough time for anything. We knew from about mid-August to October would be crazy busy. So I planned out a full editorial calendar, we took a bunch of pictures, and then August hit and the business started about 2 weeks early so I had no time to write. There’s a lot of reasons why we were so busy, but the most exciting for you guys is that WE MOVED! Don’t forget to check out the widget at the bottom of the post to find exact and similar (a lot is old or vintage) items from the space. If I missed anything, leave a comment or DM me on IG for the info!

MOVING AGAIN?
Not far or anything, we just had to get out of our apartment. It was too small for us and the hound-dog and since the management changed it just wasn’t as good anymore. We we’re pretty disappointed so we opted to rent a house instead and it’s so. much. better. Our lives are still super up in the air right now, but we’re so happy to have as much space and the backyard is great for the pup.

The first room I got organized is my office. I knew if I wanted to get back to blogging soon, I needed a comfortable space to set up. I have been dreaming about this space for almost a year. Since the day we decided to move, this room has been on my mind. Now, it’s not totally complete. But it’s 95% there. The last things I need to do/find/pick-up are curtains, a few (fake) plants, lampshades, baskets (happening as this post goes live!), some better lighting around my vanity, and maybe a rug. But I am obsessed already and feel so creatively-charged in here.
MY THOUGHT PROCESS
It’s a pretty small room and I might have done things a little differently with an unlimited budget and time, but priority numero uno was creating a beautiful, functional working space since that is pretty pivotal for having productive work time. When you feel happy in a space, you bring that into what you do there. The history of the space also matters as well, which is why it’s recommended not to work in bed – because if you do, you’ll end up thinking about work when you go to sleep.
And it really works. When I come in here now, things get done and they get done a lot faster and with less…procrastinating? That’s not the word I’m looking for, but you get what I mean. Hell, this blog post practically wrote itself and I’ve only been typing for like 10 minutes.

So I do love a neutral space, but I also really love color. And the right colors make me happy and energized. So I took one of my favorite paintings from my old apartment which is filled with colors that I love and made it the palette for the space. The oranges, blues, greens, and burgundies are so gorgeous and really vibe with me. I feel kinda silly saying that, but I know you know what I mean. We all have that one color or palette of colors that makes us feel so spot on. And that’s exactly what I needed in my office.
I also have a lot of color in my wardrobe, so I didn’t want them to feel out of sorts in the office, especially with the garment rack in here. So I grounded all the bright colors with more neutral colored furniture to cut that overwhelming factor from the art and closet. I am thinking of staining the vanity a slightly lighter and less red color, but I’m happy with it for now. If I were going for ultimate design, I would have colorized my garment rack as well, but right now I’m using it to put pieces I haven’t gotten much wear out of front and center. My next mission is purging like half of my wardrobe, so keep your eye on my Poshmark!
What do you think of the space? Do you have any suggestions for sprucing it up even more or where to find those last few pieces? ALSO, how would you like me to approach these design posts? Budget breakdowns, DIY’s, or just overviews with inspiration like this post?
