CURRENTLY LOVING: EMBROIDERED DETAILS
Happy Wednesday, ladies! I’ve almost made it through my first week substitute teaching. Y’all, this has been so much fun. It’s the kind of work that I come home feeling fulfilled from and that’s a great feeling. I’ve also had the opportunity to work with special ed groups which has been a complete pleasure. Maybe I’ll talk more about it in a future post! But let’s get into today’s topic: embroidered details and why you should love them!

As far as styling your embroidered details, I don’t have too much to say here. The nice thing about these details is that they are styling equivalents to patterns. Seriously, just treat them like any other pattern The draw of embroidered details is the texture and intricacy to your pattern.
In today’s look I wanted to go for a something a little darker to let the colors of the embroidery pop in this $12 top, so I styled it with black denim and a classic trench. But this top, like any peplum, would look super cute with skinny jeans or a pencil skirt. Colors are only limited by what matches the colors I’m already wearing. So step back from the impact of embroidery, and imagine it as just another floral print dress or top. How would you style it? If it’s not floral, how would you style the stripe? Or geo-pattern? The only suggestion I have to keep in mind is, generally, to keep your accessories simple, especially if they are close to the embroidered detail. The exception? Statement earrings. I don’t know why, but especially when they match the color of your details, the look just screams sweet summer time!
Now go forth and conquer embroidery!

Embroidered denim is very on trend now, but if you’re going to shop for it, look for more affordable pieces because that trend may or may not stick around. Now, if you’re talking denim jackets, you’ll be okay investing just a little extra. Look for a classic style like roses, rather than anything over-the-top, though. Those classic designs will last a little longer and unique jackets, patches, etc. can always be done up in a classic way.
So what can you get footloose and fancy-free with? Tops! Especially embroidery on neutrals (like black), or red florals on blue striped blouses. I know that’s uber specific, but those stripes just won’t go out of style and an florals look gorgeous on stripes. Plus, red, white, and blue is as ubiquitous to summer as florals are to spring and pumpkin spice to fall.
