14 DATE IDEAS TO TRY THIS YEAR
Happy Valentine’s Day, ladies! It’s the day of love – when all the couples in the world go out and celebrate. But why should it be one day a year? Of course, Chris and I do have plans for tonight. But I also want to encourage everyone to continue to celebrate their love year-round. It’s necessary keep a relationship in tact, and it’s a little less stressful to plan an elaborate date night in the middle of June, as opposed to Valentine’s Day itself (stick to a simple dinner for V-Day, or do something before/after to avoid crowds). And if you’re single, don’t fret, check out this post for some ideas of things you need to do while your single. And come back to this post when you’re not. 😉

4 EVENING DATE IDEAS
- Look up a restaurant in your area with a cuisine you both haven’t tried before. If you can’t find one you both don’t know, take turns sharing a new type of food with each other.
- Many communities have local theater or improv groups. Hunt one down and spend the evening supporting your community and experiencing something that’s special to your area.
- Go bowling, ice skating, or roller blading. Dress a little goofy and pretend no one else is there.
- People-watch at a poppin’ local bar on a Friday night. Find a spot in the corner where you can see everyone. Make up stories about their lives, try to predict what they’ll eat or drink, and guess who is from out of town, and who is local.
5 DAY DATE IDEAS
- Head to your local tourist trap and play tourist for a day. Take cliché pictures, eat at all the tourist-y restaurants, and ask strangers how to get to the most obvious attractions (even if you already know how to get there!). Plus, if they give you a route you’ve never heard of, it’s a chance to maybe catch something new!
- Check out your local community centers and see what classes are on offer. Take a cooking class together, a baking class, woodworking, you name it. Learn a new skill together. Hell, you can even learn something annoyingly practical, like how to do taxes yourself.
- Two words: mini golf. Nothing breeds loving competitiveness like a spinning windmill and clubs that are too short.
- This one is better as a double date (more brains), but try an escape room! You’re literally forced to work together, can you think of a better way to practice that oh-so-important skill?
- Volunteer together. Doing things for other people is proven to make you a happier person. When you combine that with teamwork, you set yourself up for relationship success.
5 AT-HOME DATE IDEAS
- Set up a couple easels and paint. You can paint each other, an object special to you, or even follow a Bob Ross video. If you want to make it more fun, face your paintings opposite so you can’t see each others work until it’s done. Make some finger food to snack on while you work and keep the wine flowing.
- Keep it simple and order take out. Lay a blanket with lots of pillows on the floor, open your favorite bottle of wine, and watch your favorite movies together (take turns if you like different genres)!
- Have a cocktail or wine tasting night! Put on your favorite music. Open a few bottles of wine, or download a few cocktail recipes and get to tasting. Try doing blind taste-tests if you’re really feeling adventurous.
- Watch a YouTube fitness video and do it together at home. Try a Zumba or dance class, or something you’d be too embarrassed to do in public. Get into it, get goofy, and have fun!
- Want a regular at home date night idea? Learn to play an instrument together. Chris just got a guitar, and I have one I haven’t learned to play, and we’re so excited to sit down and practice together.
