12 HOLIDAY DRESSES TO ROCK THE SEASON
Happy Monday, ladies! I hope you had a fabulous weekend. I’ve been working super hard on all the holiday stuff early this month so I can kick back and enjoy the week of Christmas. I’ve also had more holiday parties than usual this year – but I’m not complaining! I love a good holiday party and the opportunity to get a little dressed up. I love picking up new dresses each season, but I also love reinventing old ones. So in today’s post I’m giving you a little bit of both!

HOW TO STYLE YOUR HOLIDAY DRESSES
No matter what dress you chose, you can rely on a simple formula to get it party ready. If you’re the kind of person to go all out, you do you. But the last thing I enjoy at a party is feeling constricted and overwhelmed by my party outfit and accessories. So the formula I rely on is:
dress + heel + bag + bracelet + bold liquid lip
For hair, I toss up between an updo and my hair down and curled. Both look really elegant and are quite simple to do. I also keep my makeup really simple. When there’s a lot of people in a small space, it can get quite warm, so I chose makeup that can hold up in high temps and through lots of hugs. A liquid lip is essential because it can last through most food and drinks, and won’t rub off on nice china or your friends shoulders or hair during the inevitable drunken goodbye hug.
HOW TO SHOP YOUR CLOSET
You don’t necessarily have to buy a new dress each year. Although, if you love to shop, go for it. You can also shop your closet and recreate new dresses from what you already have (especially if you’re a closet hoarder like I am). For example, in this post, I’m wearing two dresses: a pretty glittery one, and a simple slip dress with a nice lace detail. I layered them to get a little more length and va-va-voom. I’m completely obsessed with the result and I actually like it better than the two pieces alone!
If you’ve got time to play with your closet before your party, try layering dresses (just make sure the end result is comfy). Or layer a skirt over a dress. Or a short dress over a longer skirt. The best way to do this is to pick complementary colors, take out a few pieces in those colors and then experiment from there, rather than trying to understand your entire wardrobe at once.
