CUBICLE TO COCKTAIL: HOLIDAY PARTY
Happy Fri–YAY, ladies! I hope you’re having a fabulous week. Today’s post is pretty timely because I’m actually headed to a Holiday party tonight. Although mine is a work function so business casual will be the style code. But I was so obsessed with this Cubicle to Cocktail transition so I had to share it today!

HOLIDAY PARTY OR HOLIDAY PARTY
A catchy subtitle for a simple tip: just evaluate the formality of the party you’re going to. The nice thing about Holiday parties is that you can kind of always err on the sequin side, but my backless tank would not be appropriate at a work function. So that’s the kind of question you need to ask yourself. What is the dress code at this event and how can my layers accommodate that? I could take this exact look to a work function if I swapped out the backless tank for one with thicker straps, more coverage, and a little bit of sparkle (like this one). And it’s still perfectly layerable.
MAKE IT WORK READY
Now you just need to top if off. With the tank I wore, I could have opted for a v-neck sweater as well. A crew neck or turtle neck sweater is perfect for a top like the one I mentioned above with thicker straps. A backless (or a top with a dramatic back) can also be made work appropriate with a cardigan that you keep on all day, so long as the front neckline is appropriate. But when all else fails, a cozy winter sweater will hide whatever is underneath and work great in the office.
STASH THE RIGHT ACCESSORIES
In my workbag, I can stash my favorite party clutch, a little extra sparkly jewelry, and a bold lip color. These tiny details will make a huge difference in the dressiness of your look. Although this look is quite dramatic as is, a change of lip color and a cross body bag instead of a sequin minaudiere would give a totally different vibe. So stash a pretty set of dangling pearls and nude liquid lip for a work event, or a bold sparkly earrings and a bright red for a true holiday cocktail hour.
What do you think of this Cubicle to Cocktail look? How do you like to transition your outfits?
