CUBICLE TO COCKTAIL: CASUAL OFFICE
Happy Monday, ladies! I’m officially a full month into my trip now. It’s kind of insane, really. And I have just under a month before I’m back in the States again. Working in Peru has been such a rewarding experience. But back to the topic at hand, for today’s post we’re talking about taking your work looks from Cubicle to Cocktail. This month we’re focusing on the theme of casual offices and how to take a casual look quickly to cocktail hour.
TARGET PLAID (SIMILAR) // TARGET VEST (SIMILAR) // ONESIXTEEN BIJOU BLOUSE (SIMILAR) // AMERICAN EAGLE DENIM // SIMILAR BOOTIES // SIMILAR NECKLACE // NAIL BRACELET
PICK YOUR BOTTOMS
I actually really love the look of denim for cocktail hour, but whatever you chose, for a casual look the easiest thing to change is usually your top. So pick bottoms that work for your office and will be cute for drinks later. A dark denim skinny jean is always a perfect choice.
PICK YOUR COCKTAIL BASE LAYER
This is my favorite part! I get really warm in crowds and absolutely hate it, so I love cocktail looks like are sleeveless and loose. The color, cut, and fabric of this OneSixteen Bijou blouse make it one of my all time favorites. Ever. A silky camisole is the best way to dress up a pair of jeans for cocktail hour. The pretty fabric and cut add flare and a sexiness to your look, but the denim keeps it all under control. If you like to look dressed up, but are cautious of feeling overdone, then try to pair your fancier blouses with denim and you’ll be amazed with the result!
TOP IT WITH YOUR WORK BLOUSE
If you opted for a pretty camisole as your base layer, a button up or v-neck blouse is the way to go. The pretty details in your camisole will poke through without being inappropriate. But if your top has a low neckline like mine, just look for a layer that will hide what’s underneath. With a darker base layer, chose a thicker or black blouse on top. If your base layer is a light color, try topping it with a pretty floral silk and celebrate spring!
What do you think about this transitional look? And what do you love wearing for cocktail hour?
