WHY YOU NEED A VEST ON YOUR OUTERWEAR WISH LIST
It took me forever to get on the vest train. Forever. I just couldn’t see myself wearing them or figure out how to style them. But a couple years ago, I really wanted to try the trend so I picked up my first vest. It took me a while to where it, and I wore it in a really simple way like in this post. BUT I started trying it in more adventurous ways, like last week, and I’m thoroughly obsessed. So if you’ve been wondering about whether or not you should put a vest on your outerwear wish list, just keep reading. I shared three reasons why in today’s post!
BOUTIQUE VEST (SIMILAR) // MICHAEL STARS T-SHIRT // AMERICAN EAGLE DENIM // STEVE MADDEN BOOTIES (SIMILAR) // MICHAEL KORS BAG // VINTAGE NECKLACE (SIMILAR)
ONE. A VEST FOR CALIFORNIA/TEMPERATE WEATHER.
If you’re from California as well, then you know. A huge portion of the state just won’t seem to cool down. It’s been high 70’s and low 80’s the last few weeks and we’re safely into November. So, that’s crazy. A vest is perfect in this weather because it feels autumnal and wintery without being too hot. It’s the perfect compromise piece.
TWO. A VEST FOR INSIDE/OUTSIDE.
So, like the one above, a vest can adjust to the weather super well. So even if you live somewhere really cold, you can rock a vest really comfortably when you’re running errands that take you inside and outside repeatedly – like shopping! You won’t be too hot in the store (or wherever you are) and when you go outside, you won’t have to struggle to put a jacket back on every. single. time. Honestly, a vest is invaluable for this purpose. Plus, it’s generally smaller so if you do have to take it off, it’s easy to tuck away.
THREE. A VEST FOR COMPLETING A LOOK EFFORTLESSLY.
If you’re ever feeling unsure or like your look is missing something, try a vest. I’ve found that most of the time, it totally finishes my look and makes it look super autumnal. You can check out my post about styling off the shoulder for fall for one idea – but honestly, nearly every single fall look is completed with a vest. The only thing I recommend not styling it with is a heavy, chunky knit, but in that case you really don’t need it!
I threw in that last photo because I was distracted by an airplane and I think it’s hilarious. ANYWAY, what do you think? Are you convinced that a vest should be on your list?
