#BLUEPRINTBEAUTY: HOW TO WAKE UP WITH WORK-READY HAIR
Happy Monday, ladies! I know they can be real rough, so today I’m sharing some tips to make mornings a bit easier. Not all of us can “wake up like this,” but there are a few things you can do BEFORE bed to make wake up with work-ready hair. I’ve used these tricks religiously for years and I’ve found nothing that works as well! All I have to do in the morning is touch up an extra curl or two around my face and tease my hair at the crown, which you wouldn’t have to worry about if you have thicker hair! If you have thin hair or hair that’s prone to parting down the back, you’ll probably have to tease a little, too. But that’s so much quicker than trying to curl a whole head of hair!
P.S. Please excuse my messy bathroom. I’m still trying to move in and decorate it again!
ONE. IDENTIFY LIFELESS SECTIONS.
Look for the sections of hair where your curl just isn’t holding up and section those off to curl. If you’re going with straight hair, look for bits that seem to be falling flat and iron them from the root, straight up like you’re pulling your hair above your head, then skip the next step.
TWO. ADD CURLS AROUND YOUR HEAD.
Go around and add curls to the sections you identified previously. Let them fall and then cool all the way before touching the section again.
THREE. FINGER COMB STIFF CURLS.
Run your fingers through your hair to break up any stiff curls. If you’re going for a straight look, still comb through with your hands to add a little movement and texture to your hair. Brushing through with your fingers will make the next steps a little smoother.
FOUR. DRY SHAMPOO ALL THE HAIR.
Number one hack for waking up with work-ready hair, especially if you have darker hair, is to apply most of your dry shampoo the night before. Go ham, and focus it on your roots all over your head. Don’t worry about any white patches because they will soften out as you sleep.
FIVE. FLIP UPSIDE DOWN AND PONYTAIL.
Bend over and flip all of your hair over your head. smooth out the back and put it in a soft tied-elastic hair tie or a scunci. You need a super soft hair tie for this to work because it’s the only thing that won’t leave a huge crease in your hair.
SIX. PULL TAUT AND GO TO BED.
Tighten it up a little bit as close to the highest point of your head as you can. I’m annoyed by the little flyaway pieces, so I save all my stretched out bobby pins and use those to gently hold the pieces at the back of my head down. I use the really stretched out ones to add one little pin to keep the tail out of my eyes. Just make sure you never use a brand new bobby pin for this or you might end up wth a crease.
Easy as pie. Do you have any tricks to make your mornings easier? Share them in the comments below!
