CUBICLE TO COCKTAIL: THE SUEDE SKIRT
When I’m working, I’m usually working about 10 hours a day. Which means, I get to the office at about 8 and leave around 6 – prime girl’s night hour. So when I’m going out with the girl’s, I either have to go straight from work or I have very little time to stop by the house first. I’m not really fond of leaving once I get home in the evening, so I like wearing outfits I can take with me into the night hours. Keep reading to see how I take this look from stuck in the cubicle to cocktails with the girls (and get my tips for you to do the same)!
There are four tricks I used to take this look from conservative office to cocktail hour. They are all super easy, and I made the switch in the car on the way from one shoot location to the other (I wasn’t driving). But you could easily switch it up in your car before you start driving (or after is fine lol).
ONE. Clip your hair back with a loose clip that won’t crease so you can let it down later. In the evening, let your hair down, girl! I don’t love having my hair in my face when I’m working, so I relish the chance to let it down in the evening!
TWO. Keep your essentials in a mini clutch tucked into your workbag. Or use a wallet with a detachable wristlet strap. When you head out, leave your heavy bag in your truck and just bring along any cash/cards you may need, a lipstick, and your phone.
THREE. Tuck your blouse into your skirt to accentuate your waist. If you pick a skirt like mine, you can also fold over the top and wear it a little higher to show a little more leg that is less appropriate during work hours.
FOUR. Grab a neutral pinky lipstick for the day, then tuck a bolder shade into your bag for drinks. Try a deeply tinted lip balm that you can apply without a mirror!
