3 WAYS TO WEAR SUMMER LACE IN FALL
Happy Monday, ladies! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. We finally got some rain and fall weather this weekend (I even had to break out my ear muffs for a football game on Saturday!). When we shot this post however, it was still very warm. Lace is really great in all seasons, but certain colors can be a challenge to style as the seasons change. This lace top screamed summer to me, and I found it on a sale’s rack at the end of summer, but I really wanted to wear it ASAP, so I used a few little tricks to fall-ify it. Keep reading for 3 tips for wearing your summery laces in the fall…
ONE. Pair it with rich fall jewel and earth tones.
The easiest way to make a summery lace look appropriate in the fall is to mix it with jewel and earth tones. I opted for burgundy and an earthy olive. If it wasn’t so warm, I would top this look with a camel colored trench coat. If you have a pastel pink or yellow (or any pastel!) lace, look for the same color in a jewel tone to pair with it and create a fun monochromatic fall look.
TWO. Incorporate brown leather accessories like shoes, bags, and jackets.
Black can make your lace look a little too feminine grunge, and take away the cozy fall feel we’re going for here. So try your pastel pieces with some cognac or deep brown riding boots or look for a brown leather bomber jacket.
THREE. Layer on a heavy felted jacket.
Delicate lace actually plays really well with heavy fabrics. If you have a pastel lace dress (or skirt, etc) to wear to a nicer event, look for a felted jacket (like this one) and toss on a pair of jewel tone pumps. You can make your look extra elegant by incorporating a braided bun or even a simple braided bang like I did in this post.
How do you like to incorporate lace in the cooler seasons?
