THE BEST FITNESS APPS TO MOTIVATE AND TRACK YOUR PROGRESS
It’s the first Wednesday of the month, so Happy #WorkoutWednesday! Today I’m reviewing my Top 5 Fitness apps, and why I like them so much! These apps have been super helpful motivating me and keeping me on track. I hope that by sharing them with you, you can find the motivation to get your workout on! What are you waiting for?! 😉

MY FITNESS PAL.
This is my number one fitness app. I check this one almost everyday. I admit, I’m slacking since I really don’t want to see where I’m at as I try to survive by eating only what I have in my apartment before I move. However, it’s great for tracking my calories and nutrition when I’m working out, plus it feeds into my Fitbit app (see below) which helps give me a better overall picture of my health, not just of my workouts. And, really, we should work out for our health – not just vanity! – because that’s the only way to make it consistent and see results!
NIKE FUEL.
I love this app because I love to collect the badges. It really isn’t for much of anything else, but it’s really motivating to watch the round bar fill up and flash at me after a workout. I usually put this on right before I hop on the elliptical and rack up fuel using the motion feature. You can also plug in a yoga or biking workout and adjust the intensity since the phone’s tracker isn’t accurate for those activities. I don’t have a personal trainer, but I do like to collect everything, so collecting workout badges speaks to my inner hoarder without making moving any more difficult.
NIKE RUNNING.
This one is a no-brainer. I track every single run I go on with this app. I love that it integrates with my music, gives me notifications about my distance traveled and distance to go, and it even tracks the milage on my shoes. I’ve had a severely sprained ankle on one side and fractured foot on the other so making sure my shoes are in tip-top shape is a priority for me.
NIKE TRAINING CAMP.
This little app is great for following a workout plan wherever you are. YouTube has great options, but it’s easy to get distracted by cat videos looking for them. With NTC, workouts are organized into type (strength, endurance, mobility) and some subcategories (athlete workouts, no-equipment, short workouts, etc.) which helps you get done sooner. It provides the moves step by step, talks to you, and has a video to help you make sure you have the proper form and avoid injury.
FITBIT TRACKER.
So, this is sort of a necessary part of the Fitbit, but it’s also a very useful app. It connects with MyFitnessPal so I can plug in my food and water and exercise and track those. You can actually plug food in from here, but I’ve found the UI and database on MyFitnessPal just works better for me. If you have a Fitbit, make sure this app is on your front page. It will help you stay motivated – just make sure to check it! Next month I will be posting my review of Fitbit now that I’ve had it a couple months!
To sum up, all of the Nike apps are helpful for actually working out and motivating yourself, MyFitnessPal is great for tracking the knitty gritty calories in vs. out and nutrition, and Fitbit Tracker gives an overview of your overall health and activity.
