FRIDAY FAVORITES: BEAUTY EDITION
Happy Friday! I was planning a productive day today, but I just couldn’t work yesterday after my midterm, (see Instagram) and this morning I woke up at 5AM with the worst stomach pains. It’s currently 9:40, so today’s post will be out a little late, but I absolutely cannot wait to share these products with you. I’ve been investing a little more care and awareness into my skincare routine lately, and experimenting with some more advanced makeup techniques (aka, contouring), so today I’m sharing some of the discoveries I swear by!

LATHER HONEY MOISTURE MASK.
I got a sample of this in a subscription box, I can’t remember which one, but I am now obsessed. My skin is combination, on the oily side, but I do experience dryness throughout the year for various reasons. And when my skin gets dry, it generally responds my overproducing oils and I break out. I started using the Lather mask at night at the first tiny sign of dryness and I’ve been able to reduce my the frequency of my breakouts by at least 70%. And I honestly believe that number would be much higher if I didn’t have nights like last night when I just wash and crash and forget to notice how my skin is behaving.
BENEFIT PUFF OFF! EYE CREAM & BENEFIT OOH LA LIFT EYE CREAM.
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably seen these two products before. I use them together, religiously, so it’s best to talk about them that way. I always start with an eye cream with caffeine, vitamin C, and rosehip oil (I like 100% Pure and Valentia), then top with Puff Off! and finish with Ooh La Lift. The combination works miracles on my under eyes by plumping and encouraging blood flow that reduces darkness. No amount of concealer has ever been able to do what this product combination can, I swear by it.
SMASHBOX CONTOUR STICKS.
I started contouring just with an inexpensive contour palette I got in a subscription box, but when we started taking more pictures, I wanted something a little more. I had heard good things about the Smashbox sticks and they looked super easy so I decided to try them – and they totally live up to the hype. To contour, I just create a few lines where I want the contour to be, then blend using my Tarte Contour Brush. Then I set the color using my Tarte Contour Palette or just leave it as is. A little bit of the creamy sticks create a beautiful natural look, great for girls who love makeup, but don’t love wearing a ton!
TARTE CONTOUR PALETTE.
Oh, this palette. I’ve heard people love it and hate it, but I love it. First, it smells so freaking good. Sometimes I just leave it open to smell the rich vanilla coming from it. Second, it applies beautifully. The contour shades are so natural and pretty and blend like a dream. The highlight shades aren’t the best I’ve ever seen, but I like a pretty sparkly highlight, so if you’re a more neutral girl, you’ll love these. Plus the blush color is just too pretty!
TARTE FOUNDATION BRUSH.
I’m officially a big girl and I’m applying my foundation with a brush. I used to use a disposable makeup sponge, which is actually great for certain aspects, but the brush is just so much cleaner. And if you’re acne prone like I am, clean is key. I use a little bit of Japonesque’s Makeup Brush Cleaner (in Rosewater) after every use and my breakouts have gone down. I love how soft the Tarte brush is! When my skin is dry it is so sensitive to bristles so it’s great to have a tool that I can use no matter the condition of my skin.
