CLUB W
Whew, what a month. I love summer sessions, but they are seriously exhausting. Not to mention trying to keep an apartment clean with two people living in it was way more work than it needs to be. Living alone is a wonderful thing! I might have to have myself a little stay-cation to catch a breather this weekend! A new Club W box is a great reason to do just that. My mom is a huge wine fan, and we went wine tasting for my 21st, so when I stumbled across Club W, I decided to go for it.
Club W is another subscription service. It’s $39/month, plus $6 shipping. A little bit steep on a college budget, but months can easily be skipped which sold me on it. You fill out a taste profile, and then three bottles are picked out for you. My filled out profile gave me two reds and one white wine. While in most instances this would be spot on, there’s just something about red wine that makes my nose feel funny. Fortunately, you are able to change your preferences. I switched mine to two white and one red. Wine is a choosey thing, though. So while the system will recommend three bottles, you can change your picks if one of the options just don’t work for you.
The shipping is super fast, at least for me. I received my first box within two days. The box comes with an introductory fold out that talks about the wine club. Most of that information can be found on their website. But what I really liked was that each bottle came with it’s own information card. The card provides details about the flavors and origin, as well as a recipe to pair it and several other paring suggestions. You can also go online or on the Club W app to watch a video and get even more information.
So far, I’ve only tried my red, the 2014 Tempo Vero Primitivo. It was good, I’m just not a red fan still. (Maybe it needed to age a little more? During my wine tasting adventure, I learned that the older the red the less intense the weird feeling I got in my sinuses was.) However, it was just the right amount of sweet to mix into an awesome quick and simple sangria or wine cooler, which I love, and is just perfect for these scorching summer days!
P.S. Sorry for the photo quality, I forgot my camera! 🙁
P.P.S. Meet Annabel! My sweet and fluffy little family addition!
