PRODUCT REVIEW: ADOVIA DEAD SEA SALT SCRUB
This post is brought to you by goPure Naturals and BrandBacker.
Recently, I had the opportunity to get my hands on the Adovia Dead Sea Salt Scrub. I love body scrubs, especially sea salt-based scrubs so I was super excited to try it.
The scrub came in a good sized tub. I’m not crazy about tub-based shower products because they always get water in them, but when I saw the layer of oils lining the top I kind of understood the purpose of the tub as opposed to a tube. I still shook it up a bit before I used it. The fragrance is a little powdery, not exactly “youthful,” but the smell didn’t stick and overpower any perfumes or body products I put on afterward. Because it’s like over 100℉ here in sunny central California, I put the scrub in the refrigerator until I was ready to use it. Let me tell you, there is nothing better than an icy cold scrub on a scorching day.
I tried the Adovia Sea Salt Scrub on shave day. I love exfoliating before I shave, it seems to help it last a little longer. The sea salt didn’t dissolve quickly, which is great. I’ve been disappointed by so many scrubs because the grains disintegrate before it’s done any good. There’s also no sudsy-soapy quality to the Adovia scrub. Generally that’s something I like, because I don’t have to use extra soap or shaving cream to shave, however it’s not a deal breaker.
I could feel the moisture the second it touched my skin. A major problem with exfoliates and scrubs is that they can be drying. The Adovia Sea Salt Scrub is exactly the opposite. After I scrubbed and shaved I drizzled a little of the oils from the tub onto my skin and rubbed it in. If you’ve ever showered in soft water and seen the little beads of water gather on your skin, that’s exactly what using the scrub will be like. It created a barrier of oils between my skin and the water. My skin was so moisturized I didn’t even bother to lotion my legs afterward. By the end of the day my skin was still super soft and not a bit dry. I was actually a little worried it would be too moisturizing for my oily skin, but it was just right.
I’m really pleased. The list price of the Adovia Dead Sea Salt Scrub is $38.00, on Amazon it’s available for $17.95. I knew it would be better than any old Target scrub, but the kind of moisture and exfoliation it delivers is just amazing. It is too aggressive to use everyday, however it’s perfect for every shave day (for me thats every 2 to 3 days).
TL;DR: As far as fragrance is concerned, I can find better body scrubs. From every other measure, this is seriously the best scrub I’ve ever tried. My skin is so happy.
