FRIDAY FAVORITES
The country love is real. So I have so many iTunes gift cards, it’s ridiculous. I always get them as gifts, but tend to keep them stashed away, you know, for the really good songs. Anyway, the really good songs are everywhere these days and it’s overwhelming. The other day, for the first time in years, I bought two complete albums: Jake Owen’s Days of Gold and Chase Rice’s Ignite the Night. Sam Hunt’s coming release is next on my list – another country fan shared this song with me and I will be eternally grateful. It’s sort of a country/hip-hop/pop infusion, and it’s awesome. You’re welcome. ;P
What a good blogger I am, I finally made a Facebook page! Truth be told, I’m not a fan of social media. It’s time consuming and requires thinking. I love Instagram, but rarely use anything else. Not exactly the best attitude for a blogger to have towards social media, but hey, I’m trying. I’ll try to keep the page updated with my latest posts. If you like to follow blogs via Facebook, then head on over and like Fashion in Flight!
My favorite outfit this week was worn by Brooklyn Blonde, called Color of the Season. The texture of Helena’s top mixed with the gorgeous leather skirt, the touch of suede and pop of blue. It’s all perfect. If I had my way, I’d be rocking the same thing. Well, maybe green instead of blue. I’m helpless.
Most gorgeous hairstyle ever. It took me 2.2 seconds to save it and send it to my dad to ask if he could do it on my hair. Yeah, my dad totally does my hair. He actually taught me to french braid. Kind of impressive, huh? So when you see me rockin’ this great ‘do, you’ll know who is responsible.
So, I’m in a bit of a rut. This always happens at the end of a quarter, I guess I’m getting sick of running around. When you’re constantly moving, it’s hard to set goals and continuously work toward them. Your plans are constantly interrupted, schedules altered… I like this quote. I’m trying to keep it in mind while I get back on track, while preparing to be pushed off track once again.
Whenever I’m in a rut, I think about the women who’ve inspired me. I’ve written about them before. There’s one scene in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, where Holly is about to read a letter with awful news, and she says, “A girl can’t read that sort of thing without her lipstick.” Whenever I’m having a tough time, I think “you know, lipstick would probably be a good idea right now.” Crazy thing is, it actually kind of works! If there’s anything better than lipstick, it’s a gloss as shiny as a brand new pair of patent stilettos. I saw this gorgeous shade on Sephora, I want so badly to try it.
Happy weekend!
