LOOK REFRESH
“Getting the look” posts are one of my favorites, to read and to make. I love seeing something I love and then being able to turn around a recreate it. My makeup brush DIY was an example of that, and I’ve already done a few “get the look” posts about blogger’s outfits. This time I wanted to try a little something different…
Most of the US is struggling with outrageously cold temperatures right now, but here in California it’s really not that bad. Unfortunately. I say unfortunately because it means missing out on some cool winter outfits, like the outfit worn by Miu. It’s just too warm by mid day to rock a cowl neck sweater dress, fur coat and boots.
I really loved the outfit, though, so I decided to springify it (new word?), on a budget. The most important part of bringing winter outfits to Spring is layers. It’s still cool in the morning, so layering up till the afternoon is a must. One thing I think people forget is to make sure that the outfit still looks just as amazing as each layer starts to come off. It shouldn’t be obvious that something is missing. That was my main goal in creating this look. No matter how you change up the layers, the outfit will still pull together wonderfully. Going with a printed dress with lots of texture under a simple sweater is a great way to make sure your look stays stylish all the way down. The opposite would be to pick an embellished sweater with a simple dress and a pretty belt underneath.
I went for a splurge shoe option because I’m such a Frye fan. Riding boots are also a great investment because you can wear them in 3 of the four seasons, season after season. They’re such a classic piece in every wardrobe.
