I’ve mentioned before that
I’ve wanted to start a blog since 2009. 2008-2009 were the years I really started to get into fashion as something beyond my little world. I read fashion news and looked at a few blogs, but didn’t begin seriously following any blogs until mid-2009. Soon after I starting following a few blogs regularly, The Blonde Salad was started. I’ve been a loyal reader ever since then.
I love the range of styles worn by blog author, Chiara Ferragni. She wears preppy as well as she does grunge. I also love her ability dive into trends and her confidence in full runway outfits, then effortlessly immediately switch to never failing basics. Her style as definitely evolved over the years, but her simplicity
and unique creativity can be seen in her earliest posts and still now. Aside from her fashion sense, I love Chiara’s powerhouse personality. She is an excellent business woman and has created a powerful brand for herself. Her new projects are always very exciting and she is open to working with a variety of brands, from athletic clothes to hair and beauty to simple charity work. I admire both her sense of style and her determination to succeed at whatever she does.
Ultimately, it was her determination to succeed that inspired me to start my blog. While I was experiencing some difficult times I looked to strong women for help to get through. Fashion is full of strong, independent women and Chiara really embodies that. As silly as it is to say, fashion has played a major role in my healing process. While I avoided most obvious interaction with fashion – leggings and a hoodie became my daily uniform and I slowly quit reading magazines and shopping, including window shopping – I kept reading blogs. The Blonde Salad is uploaded daily so Chiara’s dizzying and interesting travels gave me an escape from the world on a daily basis. Sometimes I even left posts unread for a week, saved up for a rainy day when I really needed to get away! While her’s was not the only blog I read, it was one of the few the helped me escape the most.
I selected a few of Chiara’s looks from the past couple years that I like. Since I’ve been reading her blog for so long it was important for me to pick out looks going back to The Blonde Salad’s early days. What do you think of Chiara and The Blonde Salad?
